Hotel Transylvania 4: A fun but messy final installment to an already dead franchise

Hotel Transylvania 4 - Review by Brandon Cook

It’s obvious that at this point Sony is just milking this franchise dry, but I think it’s about time to be put to rest. I like the first 2 movies quite a bit; the 3rd not so much. And while Transfor-mania isn’t a horrible film, it just has no point in existing beyond the fact the studio wanted more money. Besides those points, the movie is very fast moving and easy to follow. It doesn’t waste time getting to the point, and I’m glad. Unfortunately this does feel like a straight to streaming type of movie, but it’s not horrible either way.

The cast returns and reprise their roles once more, but this time Adam Sandler has left and Brian Hull has been introduced, and he almost seamlessly takes over the role of Drac. Besides the cast, the Story is all over the place. Like I said, it’s well paced, but there’s a lot going on in this 1hr and 20 minutes. It tries to juggle a few different things at once, which makes sense for a kids movie because it has to stay entertaining—but for me it was a tiny bit distracting. Nonetheless, Hotel Transylvania 4 isn’t a bad movie, and it isn’t a bad way to start 2022 off with either. It’s obviously geared towards kids, but it’s harmless fun.
